Beaches and bays

The Pelion peninsula is surrounded by the Aegean Sea to the east and the Pagasitic Gulf to the west.

On the east side it is rather wild, with many secluded small bays on the Aegean Sea. On the west side it is calm and peaceful, with picturesque villages and the quiet beaches of the Pagasitic Gulf.

Faksitra

The pure sandy beach of Fakistra is a fabulous place, isolated by two rocky capes, forming a lovely turquoise bay. On this real paradisiacal place are the remains of an old tower. The small bay is rocky and surrounded by lush greenery.

Enjoy a coastal walk from Fakistra to Damouchari, where you can enjoy some very good food, and then walk back again.

Few scenes from the Hollywood movie Mamma Mia! were filmed in Damouchari in 2008.

Mikro beach

Enjoy the easy coastal walk from Platanias to the beautiful sandy Mikro beach.

An idylic location to enjoy a Greek meal with some wine or Tsiporo. During the summer months a small boat sails between Platanias and Mikro so you don't have to walk back.

Potistika beach, on the Aegean sea, is a natural paradise of magnificent long beaches, varying from sandy to stoney, with clean blue water and large rocks in the sea.

The nudist beach Melani is easy to reach from Potistika beach.

Potistika boasts some beach bars and some tavernas on the way in and out of the village. Look for the restaurant Climax for a great mail.

Also worth a visit is Xinovrisi which you pass through on the way to Potistika. Have a drink at Taverna Leonidas at the nice little square.

Mourtia en Pounta Pool

Photogenic, that's what you could definitely call the rocky bay of Mourtia. The large boulders form a natural swimming pool and protect against the sometimes strong waves of the Aegean Sea.

Walk along the coastal road to Pounta Pool. Just to take pictures or maybe take a dive!

On the way back do not forget to descend to Katigiorgis to enjoy Tsipouro and mezze with your feet in the sand.

Canoes on Camilla beach Pelion Greece

Close to Afeilianes there is a small secluded bay: Camilla beach. Allegedly, Prince Charles and his then girlfriend Camilla enjoyed some romantic moments here untill the paparazzi caught up with them.

The 15-minute downward hike is steep and only recommended with proper footwaer. and don't forget, you need to hike back up again.

For the adventures a must! Look for and follow the (hard to see) foothpath down to the bay. A lovely sandy beach is the reward you get.

Have lunch or diner afterwards at Taverne To Ktima in Afeilianes
